Common Questions

Everything You Need to Know

We understand you may have questions about starting music lessons as a senior. Here are the answers to the most common enquiries we receive.

Am I too old to start learning music?
Absolutely not! We regularly teach students in their 60s, 70s, 80s, and beyond. Music learning is beneficial at any age and can improve cognitive function, provide emotional satisfaction, and create new social connections. Our teaching methods are specifically adapted for senior learners.
What if I have arthritis or other physical limitations?
We work with students who have various physical considerations, including arthritis, limited mobility, or hearing difficulties. Our instructors are trained to adapt techniques and choose appropriate instruments that work within your comfort zone whilst still providing a fulfilling musical experience.
Do I need to buy an instrument immediately?
Not at all! We recommend starting with your trial lesson to explore different options. For piano lessons, we can arrange practice time at our studio. For other instruments, we can advise on rental options or help you find suitable beginner instruments when you're ready.
How long does it take to play recognisable songs?
This varies by individual and instrument choice, but most of our students are playing simple, recognisable melodies within 4-6 weeks. We focus on songs you actually want to play, which makes the learning process more enjoyable and motivating.
